Flying over the azure seas surrounding the islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, I began to believe in miracles - in this case, the mystical event of a tropical island dream come true. Soaring amongst fluffy white clouds, I admired the lush green islands below encircled by diamond white sandy beaches. From here, the view was breathtaking, but little did I know of the treasures that awaited me when I landed on the exquisite island of Canouan, home to an exclusive new hideaway - The Carenage Bay Beach and Golf Club.

Upon arrival at Carenage, I sipped complementary tropical fruit punch while checking in and, afterwards, was escorted to my picturesque villa in the hills via my own personal golf cart. Meticulously designed and decorated by architect Antonio Ferrari, my spacious suite overlooked the entire resort. After sampling the fresh mango and papaya from the complementary fruit basket, I immediately opened the floor to ceiling louvered doors to allow the aromatic ocean breeze envelope the rooms with its tropical warmth.

Under cathedral ceilings with exposed beams, the spacious living and dining area was decorated with saturated pastel wall colors, pale wood furniture and oversized wicker sofas with comfortable, colorful cushions. The décor of large bedroom whisperd relaxation with a king size wrought iron bed and exquisitely rich Frette linens and fluffy feather pillows - all complemented by natural wooden furniture atop of terracotta tiled floors. However, this traveler undoubtedly appreciated the well appointed bathrooms the most. As they are in Italy, these rooms are grand --sensuously equipped with a bath and shower designed for lovers as well as a daily supply of luxurious bath products by Bulgari.

After indulging in the many amenities of my suite, I ventured around the resort, touring the natural beauty of the lush eighteen hole golf course and the Beach Club with its vast blue pool complete with cascading waterfall and swim-up bar manned by the friendly bartender Arion. In the Town Square, there's an eclectic mix of designer and island inspired shops, a well equipped health club and spa as well as the 19th Hole bar, featuring live music.

As the late afternoon sun bathed the island in fiery hues of yellow and orange, I ventured over to the Surfside Area, where guests played tennis and volleyball while others relaxed on the pristine beach. Passing through the cozy Surfside grill, I sampled an interesting blend of Caribbean music and a fresh fruit punch of bananas, mango and papaya - all pleasantly provided by an attentive, but never intrusive, staff. Walking onto the beach and spreading my toes through its silky texture, I watched the white capped waters of the luxuriant blue ocean rush boldly to the shore, only to break into soft undulating waves against the crystal sands. It was at that moment I believed in miracles and knew this would be a vacation to remember...
