Story by Ken Panton

In the great American city of Chicago, many hotels offer luxurious accommodations, but only Hotel 71 can boast being used as a location in movies such as Batman and Transformers. This ideally situated “movie star” hotel is located in downtown at the intersection of Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue.

A standout at the hotel is Hoyt’s, the hotel’s signature restaurant located on the first floor. The stunning design includes twelve-foot ceilings and a glass-front wall overlooking the historic Chicago River. The bar at Hoyt’s is the place to see and be seen in Chicago. This hot spot draws both visitors and residents alike who enjoy expert mixologists pouring local brews and signature drinks.

With the recent completion of a $15 million renovation, this stylish boutique is now the epicenter of downtown luxury. The renovations included the addition of 49 premier guestrooms, and refurbished guestrooms that include enhanced bedding and linen package, flat screen plasma TVs, and new alarm clock radios with iPod docking stations.

For the business traveler, the upgraded Internet service with complementary high-speed wireless access throughout the public areas and all guestrooms make getting work done even easier.

The lobby has been enhanced to give visitors a bolder welcoming impression, while the view from the brand-new fitness studio overlooking the Chicago River kept me on the treadmill longer than planned.
