Story by Ken Panton
Before your arrival at the Paradisus Riviera Cancun be forewarned that your expectations of the level of luxury at an all-inclusive resort are about to be elevated to new heights. Located a short drive from the Cancun airport and about 30 minutes south of Cancun is one of Mexico's many hidden treasures, The Paradisus Riviera Cancun, an oceanfront resort on the wide shores of the western Caribbean. Nestled alongside a tropical mangrove preserve and spanning 5,000 feet of a beach that is protected offshore by the world's second largest coral reef, the location of this resort is a major draw for visitors. Upon arrival, however, they discover that there is so much more to delight them.
This luxury, all-inclusive resort is complete with fourteen 3-story bungalows and 496 glamorous and spacious suites, including 136 Royal Service Suites and four Ambassador Beach Front Suites. My room was on the ground floor, just steps away from the ocean, where the rays of the morning sun awoke me for each new exhilarating day.
The Paradisus Riviera has everything you may desire in a fabulous resort vacation. There is a list of delectable restaurants and lively bars, many of which provide nightly entertainment to enjoy. Their gourmet à la carte restaurant, L'Hermitage, specializes in French cuisine and was awarded Four Diamonds by the AAA. The impressive dining selection also includes the Caribbean Market Place Restaurant, Tequila Grill Restaurant, Capri Restaurant and more delightful casual dining venues.
With four outdoor fresh-water swimming pools, including one just for children, a Spa with a Beauty Center, steam baths and sauna, and a Nautical Center where you will find kayaks, windsurf, water bikes, sunfish sailing, snorkeling and diving equipment, there is seemingly no end to the selection of activities to enjoy. With the resort's impressive acreage there is plenty of room for guests to spread out and find a small pocket of tranquility in which to relax, but the ever-smiling staff is always on the watch and ready to bring you whatever you might desire.
Neighboring places of interest include archaeological sites including Chichen Itza and Tulum, and the charming village of Playa Del Carmen. Families and lovers of outdoor recreation will also find Xcaret and Xei-ha natural park exciting places to visit. Paradisus Riviera Cancun is a perfect destination for family getaways as well a romantic retreat for couples.
