In the perfect location steps away from the entrance to Machu Pichu, the Orient-Express Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge is in an idyllic setting amidst the spectacular history that surrounds this exceptional enclave. Situated on the top of a mountain, above the cloud forest, the lodge is a short drive from the town of Aguas Calientes. With 29 rooms and two suites the well-appointed guest rooms, complete with cable television, and some with Machu Picchu views are intimate in and inviting.

The lush gardens with spectacular mountain views are ideal for relaxing. Lounge chairs are provided to let guests unwind and contemplate the quiet serenity and beauty of the nature surrounding them. Naturally bar service is available for those wanting to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and aperitifs. A delightful botanical garden highlights beautiful flora and fauna and a small tumbling waterfall, where hummingbirds and butterflies abound, completes the mystical aura.

Meals are served in the Tampu Bar-Restaurant, which is modern in style and the offerings are delicious. Full-length windows allow the beautiful Andean light to stream in as lunch is served. Local ingredients such as Andean Trout are paired with an extensive wine list.

After a day of hiking the Inca trails and mountains guests can enjoy a rejuvenating massage or spa treatment. Traditional English afternoon high tea is available at 4.00pm in the Tampu Bar where finger cut sandwiches of smoked salmon and cucumber along with scones and cream and biscuits can be sampled. Afternoon tea is a wonderful time to meet with the other guest and share tales of discovery at Machu Picchu.

The Orient-Express Machu Picchu Sanctuary offers an exotic and peaceful setting from which to explore the wonderful former city of the Incas. The Machu Pichu Sanctuary’s is the only hotel with close proximity to the ruins of Machu Pichu and that affords guest the unique opportunity to explore at their leisure from dusk until dawn.
